Sore Muscles? Don’t tell me it’s never happened to you. You do something different – even just a walk around the block – or you ramp up the intensity of your workout and the next day you can barely get out of bed or walk down the stairs. Expect the stiffness to hit 12-24 hour post-workout and it may worsen over the next 3 days before it begins to abate.
In the meantime, its ok to workout through the pain, but be careful of your form – we tend to try to adjust how we move to lessen discomfort, but that may put extra stress on joints. Also, avoid overstretching which can damage muscle fibers.
